What's in a name? Here is a little background on how Ottilia came to be the name of my home goods and apothecary shop.

Ottilia was the name of one of my grandpa's aunts. He called her Aunt Tillie although her full name was Ottilia Mathilda. She ended up living with her sister, Maggie, who owned a bar in Elmhurst by the train station.

Ottilia is a German name, meaning, "fortunate heroine". The original founders of Arlington Heights were German, so I felt the name felt right, tied to the town in which she will live.

Lastly, Ottilia is the patron saint of sufferers of eye disease, an issue that is close to my heart.
