Palermo Body founder Jessica learned a lot about holistic living and the value of tradition from her Nonna. The brand honors her grandmother by naming it after the city in which she was born. Nonna taught Jessica the importance of cooking with fresh ingredients and how to use natural remedies for bumps, burns and beauty.   Jessica honors nature and tradition creating unique formulas and being environmentally conscious. 15 Percent Pledge
15 Percent Pledge

Ottilia is proud to take the 15 Percent Pledge and empower Black-owned businesses. The idea behind the movement is that Black people in the United States make up nearly 15% of the population and their businesses deserve space to grow and thrive. 15% of shelf space in Ottilia will be stocked with these brands.  As Ottilia grows, there may be 23 brands at the shop of which five will be owned by BIPOC. Among those, I hope to partner with brands like Essentials by Temi, Hanahana Beauty, Karité, Klur and Aba Love Apothecary.  Are there more BIPOC brands you would like to see at...

Ursa Major For All

Ursa Major offers refreshing natural scents, lightweight textures with no suspect chemicals. The line has clean skincare essentials for people who want a simple, effective routine. The move, and their eventual brand ethos, came out of a desire to live a more healthy, active and natural life with less stress. I love the reason behind choosing Ursa Major (meaning Great Bear in Latin) as the brand’s namesake! Ursa Major’s website explains that their brand,...

By caring about the quality of what we put in and on our bodies, we not only improve our wellness, but that of those who live with us and around us.  Your wellness and your community’s wellness can be improved by choosing products free of damaging free radicals and by eating a diet rich in organic fruits and vegetables. Free radicals are atoms or molecules that are very reactive with other cellular structures. Free radicals can be found in our bodies as they are natural by-products of body functions like metabolic processes and immune system responses....

Le Prunier, a plum beauty oil perfect for all skin types

An important aspect to consider when choosing products is the ingredients. To look at an ingredient list and see one - plum seed oil - is pretty incredible. In addition, being able to trace that ingredient to its place of origin is valuable because one can verify that the ingredient is pure. The plum seed oil used to make Le Prunier is derived from the makers' family farm just 30 miles north of Sacramento, California. Le Prunier was created by three sisters who spent much of their youth on the farm and supported its growth as it made the shift to...
